Booking the right company is a very important decision in guaranteeing the success of your function. Consider the following questions... and if you are dealing with a booking agent or large entertainment company, be sure to request a meeting with the DJ / Entertainment Host, who is being considered for your function.

1. Do You Provide A Written Agreement or Confirmation?
   It is very important to confirm your booking in writing. Terms should be clearly defined to avoid future problems.

JS Music Productions always draws up a formal agreement and you may keep in contact with us as many times as necessary to ensure that we are well prepared for your event and informed of any changes which may affect us. We will also be in touch just prior to the function date (usually within one week) to ensure there are no last minute surprises! Now!


2. Are You Insured?
   Insurance will give security & protection to you and your guests, as well as the DJ and his expensive gear!

3. Do You Have Backup Equipment and DJ's?
   Even professional audio equipment can fail on occasion, don't let this put an early end to your affair. Make sure there is backup equipment and be sure there is a back-up DJ / Entertainment Host, should an emergency or case of illness occur.

4. Is Your Equipment of Professional Quality?
   There is a difference between home audio and professional roadworthy equipment. The equipment a DJ uses should be built to go on the road each and every day!

JS Music Productions wouldn't use anything but professional equipment! This is not even an issue for us; anything noncommercial just won't last, not to mention that professional equipment often have features specifically made for professionals! Now!

5. Will You Listen To My Music Suggestions?
   Many DJ's / Entertainment Hosts are of the opinion that they know what music is best for their audience and won't take requests. The DJ should listen to requests and play them whenever appropriate.

JS Music Productions will take requests, however there have been times a guest has requested something we felt was inappropriate, or borderline inappropriate for the rest of the audience. You may want to discuss with your DJ how to best handle a situation like this. In addition you may even want to request certain songs NOT be played, it's your event and we are here to accommodate in any way we can :) Now!


6. Will You Dress Appropriately at My Affair?
   It is important that your entertainer look the part by dressing formal or semi-formal, according to your preference. Themed events and picnics require different attire.

7. Will You Play the Music at an Appropriate Level?
   The biggest concern voiced by prospective clients is the volume level of the music. A professional DJ / Entertainment Host knows to keep the volume at a level appropriate for the guests, especially during cocktails and the dinner hour.

JS Music Productions understands the various technical aspects involved in managing sound. We take the time during equipment setup to perform sound checks. We also make sure to monitor the sound as the volume of people within a room changes and as well, we always consider the age factor and genre of guests for whom we are playing music, etc. Now!


8. Do You Do More Than Just Play Music at the Function?
   Most functions involve more than playing music. It is important to have a DJ / Entertainment Host who is capable of playing the music, handling all of the announcements and helps to coordinate the affair.

JS Music Productions Disk Jockeys are trained and experienced with so many variations and formats of function requirements, that you might find US offering YOU suggestions! 9. Will You Listen to My Concerns and Input?
   A professional DJ / Entertainment Host is aware that they can't possibly know every aspect of music and entertainment. Your input and suggestions should be welcome!

We are often a step ahead of most people who come to us, because we provide you with documents for you to complete (either on your own or together with your DJ / Entertainment Host), which make the whole process so EASY! 10. What Is Your Level of Experience for a Function Such as Ours?
    It is very important to have confidence upfront, that you are selecting the right DJ / Entertainment Host for your function. A good indication is the number of times the DJ has worked at a similar function --and better yet, if they can provide you with references!
    
    Please realize that there are many DJs out there that just do this kind of work as a hobby or for supplemental income! While some of them may be very good, many do not have the pride, skills, expertise and resources that a company specializing in these services would have.

11. What Are Your Credentials? Do You Have References?
    Tying in with the previous question, a good DJ will always have references! A Professional DJ will also have memberships with associations such as the CDJA, AVLA and CODJA, just to name the primary ones here in Canada.
